L-R: Teresa Henderson, Katie Kramer, Kelly Japowicz and Diane Foley were honored before their final regular season game as Crusaders.

CANTON, Mich. -- The Madonna women's soccer team recorded a 2-1 victory over Siena Heights in sloppy field conditions on Tuesday afternoon at Canton High School.

The Crusaders (12-3-2) celebrated the day with a victory to secure a home game in the semifinals of next week's WHAC Tournament and honored the squad's four seniors (
Teresa Henderson, Katie Kramer, Diane Foley, Kelly Japowicz) in their final regular season home match.

Madonna picked an early first half goal in the 14th minute of play off a left footed strike by freshman
Lauren Hess (Livonia, Mich./Ladywood HS) that cleared Siena Heights' (11-6-0) goal keeper Katharine Koch before landing in the back of the net.

The Crusaders led 1-0 at the half before senior forward
Kelly Japowicz (Harper Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North HS) buried the ball into the right side of the goal on a breakaway to give MU the 2-0 advantage.

Siena Heights would score a goal late in the second half when Paula Sanematsu's shot off a deflection found its way past Traci Anderson's (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) outstretched arms in the 82nd minute.

Madonna posted 13 total shots, including seven on target and attempted five corner kicks.  The Saints recorded 10 total shots, including five on net with three corner kicks.

The Crusaders will await the final results of this weekend's conference games before the final regular season conference standings are sorted out.  Madonna will be in action on Tuesday, Oct. 24 in a WHAC Tournament semifinal match, but their opponent is still yet to be determined.
