Volleyball Captures Early Bird Title With Wins
The 10th-ranked Madonna volleyball
team used a 12 kill performance from Mary
McGinnis to knock off No. 25 Mount Vernon
Nazarene and clinch the 2008 Early Bird
Challenge championship on Saturday at the
University of Michigan-Dearborn. The win marks
the first Early Bird title for MU since 2006.
The Crusaders’ 27-25, 25-17 and 25-16 win
improves the squad to 5-0 on the season.

received votes in the poll, including five

got off on the right foot in pool play with a
3-2 (27-30, 30-24, 30-27, 28-30, 15-11) win over
Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday morning.
Match number two of the day was not as
successful for the Blue and Gold as MU fell 3-0
to #3 Concordia (Calif.) Lubovj Tihomiova
(pictured) led MU in kills in both matches and
became the new single season kills record
holder, eclipsing the mark established in 1995
by Kelly McCausland.
