LIVONIA, Mich..
-- Former Madonna University standout men's soccer player Worteh
Sampson has signed a contract with the Detroit Ignition of the
Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) for the 2006-07 season.
Sampson enters his first MISL
season after a stellar career for the Crusaders
where he received NAIA All-Region
and All-American honors in 2003 and 2004. The native of Monrovia,
Liberia was also named Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player
of the Year in 2003 and was a two-time
All-Conference first team selection.
Sampson
is just the second men's soccer alum in MU history to sign a
professional contract. He joins Salvatore Piraine, who
played overseas for one year following his career at Madonna.
The Detroit Ignition will
kick-off the team’s inaugural MISL season at Compuware Sports Arena
