Three Crusaders Earn All-WHAC Honors

Darrel Quinn was named First Team All-WHAC, All-Academic and earned a spot on the Champions of Character team.

LIVONIA, Mich.. -- Three Madonna University men’s soccer players earned spots on All-Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference teams announced in a press release by the league office on Monday.  

Senior forward Pat Griffin (Redford, Mich./Catholic Central HS) and junior midfielder Darrel Quinn (Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville) are All-WHAC First Team selections.  

Griffin is first on the team with nine goals and finished second in the race for the conference scoring title with 25 points.  Griffin has played in 15 matches for the Crusaders and is second on the team in assists with seven.

Quinn has been a vocal leader on the field for the Crusaders all season and has appeared in 15 matches for Madonna.  Quinn has scored two goals and assisted on two others while racking up a total of six points this season.  Quinn was also honored by the conference as a member of the WHAC Champions of Character Team as well as an honoree for the WHAC All-Academic Team.

Sophomore midfielder Doron Drai (Kfar-Yona, Israel) is the Crusaders other selection to the All-WHAC teams, earning a spot on the second team.  Drai has played in 15 games for the Crusaders and is second on the team with six goals.  In his first season with Madonna, Drai has made an immediate impact for the Crusaders offense, leading the team with nine assists.

Other award recipients announced on Monday include Cornerstone’s Mark Bell earning the WHAC Coach of the Year award. The player of the year honors went to Cornerstone’s Tom Skilling and newcomer of the year was also awarded to a Cornerstone player as ChikeTaylor-Phillips took home the honor. 

Madonna (10-4-2, 7-4-1 WHAC) opens WHAC Tournament play on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 2:00 p.m. ET against Siena Heights (9-5-5, 6-3-3 WHAC). The semifinal match has been moved to Walled Lake Northern High School in Commerce, Michigan.
