ANN ARBOR, Mich.
- - Using three
first half goals, the Madonna men's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 win at Concordia
on Wednesday. MU is now 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in WHAC play. Concordia opens
the season at 0-1.
MU got on
the board just 7:37 in as newcomer Eric Kiebert took a loose ball just
inside the 18-yard box and after turning, fired a shot that Concordia keeper
Shawn Simney had no chance to stop for a 1-0 MU lead.
Fellow
newcomer Otieno Victor made it 2-0 MU, scoring his first goal of the
season in the 21st minute, taking the ball away from the Cardinals and beating
Simney to his right for his first collegiate goal.
Kiebert, a
transfer from Auburn-Montgomery, made it 3-0 just under nine minutes later as he
took a pass from Doron Drai and fired his shot past a diving Simney for
the final MU score.
The Cards
posted four shots on goal but Crusader keeper Anthony DeMarco was up to
the challenge in his first action of the season, stopping all four shots.
The
Crusaders face off in a battle at Davenport on Saturday. Match time is set for
2pm in Grand Rapids.
