Player of the Week. |
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.
-- After a week that saw him average 23 points, 10.5 rebounds a game
and help his team to an upset of #13 Aquinas, Madonna senior guard
Jon Battle (Cleveland, Ohio) has been named the
Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Week. This
selection marks the third for Battle this season.
Battle got his week started by putting up 20
points and nine rebounds to go along with five assists in the Crusaders' 74-52
upset win inside the Activities Center over Aquinas. The all-conference
selection from last season then followed that performance up with a 26 point, 12
rebound effort in a 96-81 win at UM-Dearborn on Saturday.
For the week Battle averaged 23 points, 10.5
rebounds, four assists and two steals per game. He shot 70 percent from the
floor and 75 percent from beyond the three point line.
Battle and the Crusaders take their modest
two-game winning streak on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Grand Rapids to
battle with Cornerstone in a 7:30 pm tip-off inside Mol Arena on the CU campus.
The Golden Eagles, winners of their last two
games as well, are part of a five team log jam at the top of the WHAC standings
as Aquinas, Davenport, Indiana Tech, Cornerstone and Madonna all sit at 2-1
after the first two weeks of the conference slate.
