2006 Schedule Released
The Madonna women's soccer team will begin defense of the WHAC championship when they open the 2006 season August 21st at Houghton College in New York.  The Crusaders start conference play at home September 5th versus Davenport, one of eight home games on the full 2006 slate.   FULL SCHEDULE

Women's Soccer Celebrates Championship Season
The Madonna women's soccer team celebrated their 2005 championship season that saw the team go 16-2-4, win the regular season WHAC Championship and return to the NAIA National Championship for the first time since 2000 with their season ending banquet Friday night. Sophomore defender Julie Turner was named team MVP while Kelly Japowicz took home offensive MVP accolades. Freshman Lacie Slebodnik was given the Academic Excellence award while junior Katie Kramer took home the Athletic Excellence honor.  Senior captain Lacey Catarino was awarded the Leadership Excellence award to cap the festivities.

Crusaders Fall 1-0 in National Tournament
The Madonna women's soccer team
saw their 2005 season come to an end Friday with a 1-0 loss to Concordia (OR) in round one of the NAIA National Championships.  The Crusaders were out-shot 16-8 in the contest.

Women's Soccer Receives National Tournament Bid
Nearly a week after their season came to a halt in the regional semi-finals, the Madonna women's soccer team found out today they have received an at-large bid to the 2005 NAIA National Championship Tournament in Olatha, Kansas.  The Crusaders (16-1-4) are seeded ninth and will face eighth-seeded Concordia (OR) in their first game Friday (11/.18).
Game time is set for Noon (ET).

Crusaders Fall in Regional Final Shootout
The No. 8 ranked  Madonna women's soccer team battled with Indiana Wesleyan for 110 minutes Friday afternoon but had to go to a penalty kick shoot-out to decide a winner in the NAIA Region VIII semifinals with the Crusaders coming up short, 5-4 on PK's. Kelly Japowcz scored the game tying goal in the second half and four Crusaders found the net in the shootout
. The loss forces Madonna to await their fate for a possible at-large berth to the NAIA National Championships.

Crusaders Learn Fate for Next Step
All roads to the 2005 NAIA National Championships will go through Fort Wayne Indiana.  The No. 8 Madonna women's soccer team earned the WHAC top-seed and will face MCC tournament runner-up No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan in round one of the Region VIII tournament Friday at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium on the campus of MCC tournament champion St. Francis.  Game time for the semi-final match-up is 12 noon.  Tournament Info

Crusaders Take Tournament Title, 4-1
The No. 8 ranked Madonna women's soccer team added WHAC tournament Champions to their impressive 2005 resume with a 4-1 title game win over Cornerstone Saturday afternoon.  Kelly Japowicz posted a pair of goals while Dina Allie and Lacey Slebodnik each added one in the win.

Japowicz Named WHAC Offensive Player of the Year
A day after advancing to the WHAC Tournament Championship game, Madonna got great news individually as three players were named to the 2005 WHAC All-Conference first team, including Offensive Player of the year Kelly Japowicz (top).  Joining Japowicz were Lacey Catarino and Julie Turner and head coach Mark Zathey who was selected conference Coach of the Year for the third time.  In all, 12 Crusaders earned All-Conference accolades with two more earning Academic All-League honors.  Junior Katie Kramer was named to the WHAC Champions of Character team.  PDF Release

Madonna Advances to WHAC Title Game in Overtime
The No. 8 ranked and top-seeded women's soccer team needed overtime, but advanced to the WHAC tournament championship game with a 1-0 victory over
#4-seeded Siena Heights Wednesday afternoon.  Freshman Dina Allie scored the game winner less than three minutes into the first overtime period of a pass from senior Liz DiPonio for the win.  Madonna will host #2-seeded Cornerstone in the title game Saturday at Greenmead Field. Game time is set for Noon.

Women's Soccer Wins WHAC Title Convincingly, 10-0
The No. 8 ranked Madonna women's soccer team wrapped up their sixth straight WHAC regular season championship with a 10-0 road win over Indiana Tech Saturday afternoon. Julie Turner, Dina Allie, Ashley Stoychoff and Kelly Japowicz each scored twice in the win. Box Score

Japowicz Leads Crusaders to First Place Tie
The No. 10 ranked Madonna women's soccer team handed visiting Cornerstone their first loss of the season Saturday 2-1, forcing a tie atop the WHAC standings.  Junior forward Kelly Japowicz posted both goals for the Crusaders, the game winner coming just over two-minutes into the second half.  With the win, Madonna improves to 12-1-3, 7-1 in conference play. Just hours after finding themselves ranked No. 7 in the latest NAIA top-25 poll, the Madonna women's soccer team was defeated 1-0 at Cornerstone in WHAC action Wednesday.  Freshman keeper Brittany Cervi recorded three saves in defeat.

Junior forward Kelly Japowicz found the net twice as No. 10 Madonna stayed atop the WHAC standings with a conference home win over Concordia 3-0 Saturday afternoon. Freshman Caitlin Boyak tallied the first goal of the day one of 36 MU shots to Concordia's two.

The Madonna women's soccer team went to overtime for the third time in as many games, this time coming out on top 1-0 on a Tessa Adkins goal midway through the extra frame.  The goal was the first of Adkins' career giving MU their first victory of the season.
