LIVONIA, Mich.
--
Madonna University senior forward
Kelly Japowicz
(Harper Wood, MI/Grosse Pointe North HS) was one of five Crusaders
honored with All-Region accolades in a statement released today.
Japowicz
led the team in goals (15) and points (34) and was tied for the team
lead in assists (4) in her final season for MU.
Japowicz
is the lone first team selection for Madonna and was flanked by four
second-team honorees.
Junior
goalkeeper
Traci Anderson
(Brighton, MI/Brighton HS), sophomore defender
Andrea Johnson
(Canton, MI/Canton HS), freshman defender
Gina Leone
(St, Clair Shores, MI/Lakeview HS) and sophomore midfielder
Caitlin Boyak
(Livonia, MI/Stevenson HS) were all named to the regional
second team.
Anderson
recorded nine shutouts in net while posting a 12-4-2 record and
allowing just 15 goals with a 0.83 goals against average.
Johnson,
who was named the WHAC Defensive Player of the Year earlier this
month was the anchor of MU's top-rated conference defense that
allowed just 15 goals and 164 opponent shots all season.
Her
defensive mate, Leone, made her presence felt in just her first
collegiate season starting in 15 of the 18 Madonna games and helping
to anchor their stellar defense.
Rounding
out the all-region selections was Caitlin Boyak, an All-Conference
performer who posted a pair of goals and an assist while playing
primarily a defensive role for the club.
