Kati Germane scored her fifth goal of the season in MU's 3-1 win over Siena Heights on Friday.

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Madonna women's soccer team used the strength of three first half goals to cruise to a 3-1 win over Siena Heights on Friday afternoon in Adrian.

The Crusaders picked up an early goal at the 4:27 mark in the first half after the Saints knocked in an own goal, giving MU a 1-0 lead.

Freshman
Kati Germane (Hartland, MI/Hartland HS) netted the Crusaders second goal after an assist from Teresa Henderson (Walled Lake, MI/Bishop Foley HS) off a corner kick in the 24th minute.

Madonna would cap off its scoring efforts on the afternoon after freshman
Rachel Thompson (Livonia, MI/Stevenson HS) buried her first career goal off an assist from Kelly Japowicz (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Pointe North HS) in the 43rd minute.

Siena Heights would receive a goal from Paula Sanematsu at the 57:02 mark of the second half, but would get no closer than the 3-1 score.

Junior goal keeper
Traci Anderson (Brighton, MI/Brighton HS) posted four saves in net for the Crusaders against her former team.

Madonna was credited with six total shots, including five on net and five corner kicks.  Siena Heights recorded 16 total shots, including six on target and four corner kicks.  The Crusaders were charged with 23 fouls, including two yellow cards, while the Saints recorded only nine fouls.

Madonna (7-2-2) will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 30, in a WHAC contest at Davenport at 12:00 p.m. (ET) in Grand Rapids.
