Tacconelli Doubles Up in Crusaders 3-0 Win

Rochester, NY -- The #9 Madonna Crusaders (1-0-1) earned their first victory of the 2006 season behind a solid team effort in a 3-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan.

Loren Tacconelli (Northville, MI/Northville HS) led Madonna with two goals on Tuesday and senior Kelly Japowicz (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Pointe North HS) scored her first goal of the season propelling the Crusaders to victory.

Tacconelli is showing a return to form with a two goal performance against Roberts Wesleyan after missing most of the 2005 season with an injury.

Junior goal keeper Traci Anderson (Brighton, MI/Brighton HS) turned in another solid game, posting four saves and recording her first clean sheet of the year.

First year head coach Paul Thomas also picked up his first career coaching win on Tuesday afternoon for Madonna.

The Crusaders finish their two day trip to New York with a 1-0-1 record and prepare for another tough non-conference road game on Saturday at #7 Lindsey Wilson (KY).
