LIVONIA,
Mich.
– Head women’s soccer
coach Paul Thomas announced the signing of Nicole Rodriguez to a
letter of intent today. Rodriguez (Woodhaven, Mich./Woodhaven) will enroll at
Madonna in the fall and begin her collegiate career with the 2008 season.
“Nicole is a very
versatile and creative player and I see her in an attacking mid-field role or up
front,” said Thomas. “She scores goals, she creates goals and I think she will
be a great addition for us.”
Rodriguez, who
has lettered the last three seasons at Woodhaven High School, was named
all-conference last season after scoring 14 goals and adding five assists. As a
sophomore, she picked up honorable mention all-Downriver honors after scoring 19
goals. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and SADD.
“Nicole has a
great personality and her coaches have said great things about her work rate off
the field as well as on it. I see her fitting in well with the group we have,”
added Thomas.
Madonna finished
the 2007 season with an 8-7-2 record and advanced to the Wolverine-Hoosier
Athletic Conference tournament semi-finals.
