Crusaders Let Lead Slip In Tie At Davenport
Hess and Allie Score for MU as Crusaders out shoot Panthers 24-7

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.. – The Madonna women's soccer team traveled to Grand Rapids Friday night and after 110 minutes of soccer, the Crusaders left with a 2-2 tie. MU (6-3-2; 5-1-1 WHAC) got goals from Lauren Hess and Dina Allie in the draw.

DU took the lead, scoring their first ever goal against MU, in the seventh minute as Ashley Phillips finished off a long pass and got her shot past Chelsea Gregg to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.

Madonna tied the match at 1-1 in the 15th minute as Hess took a loose ball outside the box and fired it past a diving Kristin Haight to square the match.

The Crusaders took a lead in the 53rd minute as Allie took a thru ball from Rachel Thompson and fired her shot past Haight to make it 2-1.

The lead was brief for Madonna as Jaelene Huff took a long pass thru the center of the field and found the back netting just 34 seconds after Allie had scored to once again square the match.

The Crusaders continued to pepper the DU net with shots, out shooting the Panthers 24-7 in the match, including holding a 14-5 edge in shots on goal.

MU is now off until Wednesday when it returns to Grand Rapids to take on Cornerstone in a 4pm match on the CU campus.

 

NOTES
The two goals by DU mark the first two the program has scored against Madonna...Freshman Chelsea Gregg got the starting nod in net for the second time in her career, making three saves...Madonna is now 3-0-1 all-time against Davenport...The tie is the second of the season for Madonna - the Crusaders tied then fifth-ranked Houghton on Aug. 21...Madonna is now 0-1-1 in Grand Rapids this season, after falling 2-0 at Aquinas...
