FORT WAYNE,
Ind..
– The Madonna
women's soccer team used goals from four different Crusaders, including the
first two of Shelby Mathison's career, on Wednesday in a 5-0 win at Indiana
Tech.
MU (5-4-1; 4-1-0 WHAC) got
on the board in the 23rd minute as Lauren Hess took a pass from Kaila Moore and
got her shot past Tech's (0-6-0; 0-4-0 WHAC) Jennifer Sanow for what proved to
be the game winning goal.
The match stayed 1-0 in
favor of Madonna until after halftime when Mathison scored the first of her two
goals, this one coming off of a Dina Allie (right) assist in the 54th minute.
Mathison made it 3-0 MU in the 63rd minute, this time off of a Katie Germane
pass.
Ellen O'Rear got into the
goal column just over a minute later (63:20) with her first collegiate tally
from fellow freshman Sarah Rokuski.
Allie then rounded out the
scoring, taking a pass from O'Rear and beating Sanow to make it 5-0 Madonna.
Senior goalie Traci Anderson
was rarely tested in the match, having to make only two saves as Madonna outshot
Tech 29-3, including a 17-2 edge in shots on goal.
The Crusaders are back in
action on Saturday as back of a Madonna soccer double header. The women kick the
day off at 12pm against Siena Heights and the men follow at 2:30pm, also against
the Saints.
