BOX SCORE
LIVONIA,
Mich..
– The Madonna women’s
soccer team used four second half goals to lock up its second WHAC win of the
season in a 4-0 win over visiting Davenport at Greenmead Field on Wednesday.
Kaila Moore (right) scored the game winning goal, her first of the season.
Neither team
could crack the scoreboard in the first 45 minutes of action, but Madonna was
carrying the play, out shooting Davenport 14-1, including holding a 6-1 lead in
shots on goal.
It did not take
the Crusaders long in the second half to get going as Moore took a long pass
from Rachaelle Mirto and flipped her shot over Panther keeper Kristen Haight for
a 1-0 lead.
Just over eight
minutes later, Dina Allie made it 2-0 when she took another Mirto pass, this one
to the top of the 18-yard box and fired her shot past a diving Haight for the
second goal of the game.
In the 65th
minute, Allie was the one dishing out the pass as she had the initial shot in on
Haight that was blocked, but found the foot of Katie Germane who fired the ball
over Haight, who was attempting to get up, for a 3-0 MU lead.
Moore then
provided the helper on the game’s last tally in the 90th minute, as
she sent a cross across the box to the far post and found the foot of Andrea
Johnson who one-timed the shot past Haight for the 4-0 final.
For the match, MU
out shot DU 28-2, with both of the Panthers’ shots being stopped by Tracy
Anderson who combined with freshman Chelsea Gregg for the third shutout of the
season. Allie and Moore each totaled three points on the day with their goals
and assists, with Mirto adding two points of her own via her two helpers.
The Crusaders
host Schoolcraft Community College in a exhibition on Friday at 3pm and return
to WHAC action one week from today when Concordia comes calling to Greenmead
Field in a 4pm match.
