2004 Madonna Women's Basketball Player Bio's

Assistant Coach Jack Benitez

9th Year at Madonna

Jack Benitez has been a member of the Madonna University basketball program since Marylou Jansen became head coach nine seasons ago. He enters his third season as an official assistant coach.

He first began his association with Madonna basketball as the video-taper for all MU home games. Year after year, Jack has continued to give more and more to the basketball program. In his 2nd year, he began traveling with the team and taping all games. WHAC conference coaches have recognized him for his unbiased play-by-play during the games. The past two seasons, Jack has been involved on a daily basis … providing support and energy during the team’s conditioning, participating in all practices in whatever capacity needed, sharing his views and experiences and providing motivational tips to the team just before tip-offs.

In addition to his basketball duties, Benitez is also the Dearborn Divine Child CYO cross-country and track & field coach. Under his guidance, the track team won the 2000 CYO Championship. Jack has also coached CYO baseball, football, softball and basketball as well as high school track and cross-country at Holy Redeemer High Schol.

Jack and his wife, Judy, are celebrating their 27th anniversary this year. They have a daughter, Jennifer, who is a recent graduate of U-M Dearborn majoring in Engineering. Jack retired from the Detroit Police Force in 2000 and is now employed by Ford Motor Company.
