LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The Madonna women's basketball team left Las Vegas as winners Saturday after knocking off NAIA DI Campbellsville (Ky.) 67-60 at the Las Vegas Classic.  The Crusaders came back from an 11-point second half deficit to pick up their fifth win of the season.

Madonna got off to a fast start and took a 32-30 lead into the half on the strength of three triples by Stephanie Piotrowski (Petersburg, Mich./Ida HS) who scored nine of her 15 in the first stanza.

Campbellsville regrouped at intermission and began the second half on a 9-0 run, and eventually led by as much as 11 points mid-way through the final frame before the Crusaders awoke and began their second half heroics.

Lindsay Klemmer (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth Salem HS) got the comeback started with her stellar offensive play and gave MU the lead with just under a minute to play when she knocked down three free throws for a 62-60 advantage.

The MU defense clamped down from there and made critical free-throws down the stretch including a trio by Alyssa Guerin (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth Salem HS) and two more by Klemmer for the 67-60 final.

Madonna sank 18-of-19 free throws in the second half to aid their comeback victory.

Klemmer led the Crusaders offense with 24 points and also snagged eight rebounds.  Guerin and Cali Crawford (Rochester, Mich./Oakland Christian Academy) scored nine each for Madonna.

The win sends Madonna's season record to 5-10 heading into their next contest, a WHAC meeting with Davenport in Livonia January 3rd.  Tip time at the Activities Center is 5:30 pm.
