GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.
-- Fourth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan handed the Madonna women's
basketball team a 68-44 loss in the opening game of the WHAC/MCC
Challenge on Friday night at Mol Arena in Grand Rapids.
Indiana Wesleyan (8-0) picks up their second win over the Crusaders
(2-5) this season after earning a 67-52 win over Madonna on November
3 at the Cedarville Invitational Tournament.
Junior forward
Martina Franklin
(Redford, Mich./Redford Union HS) led the Crusaders with 19
points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and 1-of-2 shooting from
the charity stripe.
Senior forward Diane Foley
(Taylor, Mich./Riverview Gabriel Richard HS) and junior guard
Lauhnna Waybrant
(Ortonville, Mich./Brandon HS) each chipped in six points for
MU.
The Crusaders trailed by 10 points (35-25) at the half and were
outscored 33-19 in the second half.
Madonna shot .346 (18-of-52) from the field in the contest,
including just .167 (3-of-18) from beyond the three-point line.
The Crusaders will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 18 in a 1:00
p.m. (ET) contest with No. 18 Bethel (IN) in the final game of the
WHAC/MCC Challenge in Grand Rapids.
