TIFFIN, Ohio
-- The Madonna women's basketball team scored just 19 points in the
second half and shot only .216 (8-for-37) from the field as Tiffin
picked up a 68-55 season opening win over the Crusaders on Wednesday
night at the Gillmor Center in Tiffin, Ohio.
Overall, Madonna shot .338 (22-of-65) from the floor. The
Crusaders held a three-point advantage (36-33) at the half after
shooting .500 (14-for-28) from the field, including .400 (4-of-10)
from beyond the arc in the first half.
Junior forward
Martina Franklin
(Redford, Mich./Redford Union HS) again led Madonna with a
game high 21
points and five steals against the Dragons.
Junior guard
Cali Crawford
(Rochester, Mich./Oakland Christian Academy) also scored in
double digits with 11 points and leading MU with four assists.
Freshman guard
Stephanie Piotrowski
(Petersburg, Mich./Ida HS) was held to a career low three
points on 1-of-7 shooting against Tiffin, all of which came from
behind the three-point line.
The Crusaders fall to 2-4 overall and will return to the court on
Friday, Nov. 17 in the first game of the WHAC/MCC Challenge versus
fourth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan at Mol Arena on the campus of
Cornerstone University. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
