Crusaders Skid Hits Three Games after Falling to Spring Arbor

Cali Crawford tallied 12 points and played 38 minutes on Wednesday night.

LIVONIA, Mich. -- Spring Arbor used the strength of an 8-1 run to open up the second half before handing the Madonna women's basketball team their third consecutive loss with a 62-45 decision on Wednesday night in the Activities Center.

The Crusaders pulled the game within two points (27-25) at halftime before the Cougars went on a run that eventually led to a 19-point advantage during the second half.

Martina Franklin (Redford, Mich./Redford Union HS) recorded another double-double after leading MU with 18 points and a game high 13 rebounds.  Franklin also posted two block shots in the losing effort.

Junior guard
Cali Crawford (Rochester, Mich./Oakland Christian Academy) scored 12 points on the night.

SAU's Kara Buehrer led all scorers with 19 points to go along with five assists, five boards and two steals.

Madonna shot poorly during the non-conference contest hitting only 27.6% (16-of-58) of their shots on the night, including only 13.6% (3-for-22) from beyond the arc.

Spring Arbor limited Madonna to only  45 points, including only 20 in the second half.  The Cougars also shot 50% (25-for-50) from the floor and blistered the three-point line shooting 75% (6-of-8) to secure the win.

Madonna falls to 1-3 overall and will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 11 in another non-conference home contest.  The Crusaders will host Purdue-Calumet in a 5:00 p.m. (ET) start at the Activities Center.
