Martina Franklin posted a career high 22 points as MU defeated Rochester, 86-41.

LIVONIA, Mich. -- Three Crusaders recorded career highs as Madonna cruised to an 86-41 win over Rochester in the 2006-07 season opener on Wednesday evening at the Activities Center.

Junior forward
Martina Franklin (Redford, Mich./Redford Union HS) recorded a double-double after posting a career high 22 points and collecting 11 rebounds to lead Madonna (1-0).  Franklin also broke into the top 10 on the MU all-time rebounding list when she grabbed career rebound number 446 in the first half.

Sophomore forward
Christie Carrico (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Mott HS) added 14 points, nine rebounds and a game high six steals for the Crusaders.  Junior guard Lauhnna Waybrant (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon HS) scored 16 points in her debut with Madonna and sophomore guard Alyssa Guerin (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth Salem HS) chipped in 13 points and a career high five boards.

The Crusaders jumped out to an early lead and had the game well in hand at the end of the first half, holding a 55-18 advantage.  Madonna went on to outscore the Warriors 31-23 in the second half to stretch the final margin of victory to 45 points (86-41). 

As a team, the Crusaders combined to shoot .486 (34-for-70) from the floor, including .458 from the three-point line 11-for-24).  Rochester (0-1) was held to 33.3% (17-for-51) shooting from the field, including 10% (1-for-10) from beyond the arc.

Crusaders head coach Carl Graves also earned his first coaching win at the collegiate level.

Madonna will return to action on Friday, Nov. 3 when they take on fourth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan at the Cedarville Invitational at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
