Martina Franklin (Redford,
Mich./Redford Union HS) was named the NAIA women's basketball
division II National Player of the Week Wednesday.
Franklin helped Madonna to a pair of conference wins last week,
averaging a double-double 25 points and 12.5 rebounds along the way.
She put up back-to-back double-doubles with 21 points and 15
rebounds in a 72-62 win over UM-Dearborn, then a career high 29
points and 10 boards with seven steals in a 67-66 win over
Cornerstone.
Franklin also became the MU career block leader with her 80th career
swat versus UM-Dearborn.
Franklin is the first
WHAC women's basketball player to earn National Player of the Week
honors this season.
