The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has
announced that Madonna junior forward
Martina Franklin
(Redford, Mich./Redford Union HS)
was named Player of the Week in a press release on Monday afternoon.
This is the second time this season that Franklin has earned the
award.
Franklin helped the Crusaders to a pair of conference wins over
Michigan-Dearborn and Cornerstone. In both games, Franklin
recorded double-doubles.
Against Michigan-Dearborn, Franklin posted game highs with 21 points
and 15 rebounds in the road win. Franklin topped that
performance with a career best 29 points and 10 rebounds against the
Golden Eagles.
Franklin also became the school's career leader in blocked shots
after sending back the 80th shot of her career against
Michigan-Dearborn.
The preseason all-conference selection has racked up 11
double-doubles in 19 games this season and leads the Crusaders in
points (17.2) and rebounds (8.7).
