DEARBORN, Mich.
-- Martina Franklin (Redford,
Mich./Redford Union HS) not only recorded her third straight
double-double in Madonna's 72-62 win at Michigan-Dearborn Wednesday
night, but also moved to the top of the all-time blocked shots list
at Madonna University.
Franklin swatted the 80th shot of her career, surpassing
Marwa Ayoub's (2001-2004)
former career record of 79. Franklin also led all scorers
with 21 points and 15 rebounds in the win.
Madonna led by only one point at the half (31-30) but outscored the
Wolves 41-32 in the second half, which saw the Crusaders shoot
50-percent (16-of-32) from the floor. Overall, Madonna shot
43-percent (29-of-68) from the field and held Michigan-Dearborn to
just 34-percent (22-of-65) from the floor and only 14-precent
(1-of-7) from behind the three-point line.
Sophomore forward Christie Carrico
(Waterford, Mich./Waterford Mott HS) scored 13 points and
grabbed eight rebounds for Madonna. Junior forward
Caryn Inman (Oxford,
Mich./Oxford HS) added 11 points, six rebounds, five assists,
three blocked shots and two steals off the bench for the Crusaders.
Madonna will return to action Saturday, Feb. 10 in a 1:00 p.m. ET
tip off with Cornerstone at the Activities Center.
