Crusaders Cruise Past Michigan-Dearborn

LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Crusaders women's basketball team evened up their conference record after MU picked up a 72-60 win over Michigan-Dearborn Saturday afternoon at the Activities Center.

The Crusaders (7-12; 2-2 WHAC) were led by
Martina Franklin (Redford, Mich./Redford Union HS), who scored 26 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, blocked seven shots and was credited for five steals..

Madonna led 35-26 at the half after forcing 14 Michigan-Dearborn (2-12; 0-4 WHAC) turnovers and receiving four blocked shots by Franklin.

As a team, Madonna shot 38-percent from the field, including only 21-percent from beyond the arc. 

Michigan-Dearborn turned the ball over 25 times and shot 38-percent from the floor, including 32-percent from behind the three-point line.

Stephanie Piotrowski (Petersburg, Mich./Ida HS) scored 13 points and sophomore Christie Carrico (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Mott HS) added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Crusaders.

The Crusaders win on Saturday is the 12th straight over the Wolves and MU improves to 13-6 in the all-time series.

Madonna will return to action on Wednesday January 17th in a WHAC contest at Cornerstone University.  Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Mol Arena.
