The MU class of '08
was honored prior to
Wednesday's game with Davenport. |
LIVONIA, Mich.
- - On
a night reserved to honor five graduating senior playing in their
final regular season home games, the Davenport Panthers stole the
spotlight with a 72-62 win over MU Wednesday (Feb. 20) night.
Davenport (25-4, 12-1 WHAC)
shot 50-percent from the floor in the first half, including 10-for-16 from
beyond the three-point line to take a 43-26 lead into the intermission and never
looked back.
The Crusaders (12-16, 7-7
WHAC), determined to not go out without a fight, mounted a second half comeback
to cut the lead within 10-points with just under two minutes remaining, but
could draw no closer.
Christie Carrico (Waterford, Mich.) led three Crusaders in
double figures with 13 points while seniors Caryn Inman (Oxford, Mich.)
and Cali Crawford
(Rochester, Mich.) posted 12 each in defeat.
Prior to the game, a
quintet of Crusaders were honored on senior night for their contributions to the
basketball program during their respective careers.
Stephanie Day (Livonia, Mich.), Rebecca Rufli (Fenton,
Mich.) and Lauhnna Waybrant (Ortonville, Mich.) joined Inman
and Carrico at mid-court for the festivities.
The loss is the second
straight for MU, who now awaits the outcome of tonight's Concordia versus Siena
Heights contest to determine if they will host a first round WHAC playoff game
next week. A Siena Heights victory would give the Crusaders the
fourth-seed and a guaranteed first round home contest.
