FORT WAYNE, Ind.
– The Madonna University women’s basketball team came out on top in
a big conference contest Wednesday night (Jan. 20), claiming a 66-43
victory over Indiana Tech. Freshman Tabitha Wydryck
(Riverview, Mich.) led the charge with a game high 15 points
while senior Caryn Inman (Oxford, Mich.) added 13
points and nine rebounds.
The Crusaders (10-12, 5-3
WHAC) opened the game with an 11-0 run en route to their third conference road
victory of the season. The Warriors (1-22, 1-7 WHAC), have now dropped four
straight conference games since snapping a season high 18 game losing skid to
start the year.
Madonna shot 36.8-percent
from the floor in the contest while Indiana Tech shot at a .378 clip. The
Crusaders built a 37-19 halftime lead and outscored the Warriors 29-24 in the
second stanza. Madonna was also big on the boards, out-rebounding the home team
51-32 and 23-5 on the offensive glass.
Madonna will return home to
face Aquinas College on Saturday (Feb. 2) in a battle to stay in third place.
The game is set for a 1 p.m. start at the Activities Center and can be heard
live on the Crusaders Internet Radio Network.
