Carrico Picks Up WHAC Honors
First career Player of the Week award for junior forward
Christie Carrico poured in a career high 29 points in MU's WHAC opening win Saturday afternoon.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference office announced on Monday (Jan. 7) that the career best 29-point outing along with 10 rebounds in a come-from-behind win over Indiana Tech garnered Madonna junior Christie Carrico (Waterford, Mich.) WHAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the week ending Jan. 6.

Carrico helped spark a comeback that saw MU climb back into the game from a 12-point halftime deficit to take the lead and ultimately post a nine-point victory over the visiting Warriors on Saturday.

The forward - who was Madonna's lone selection to the pre-season all-WHAC team - shot 81 percent from the floor (13-for-16) to go along with a 75 percent (3-for-4) showing from the charity stripe. Carrico also helped the MU cause with five assists and four steals to help the Crusaders open the WHAC slate 1-0.

The Crusaders take to the road and battle 18th-ranked Aquinas in Grand Rapids on Wednesday night. Tip-off at the AQ Field House is set for 7:30pm.
