MU Wraps Up Regular Season With Sweep
WHAC Champs set to host conference semis and finals next weekend

LAKE WALES, Fla. –
Three Crusaders in double figure kills was more than enough as the Madonna volleyball team closed the 2007 regular season with a 3-0 (30-24, 30-21, 30-25) sweep over Warner Southern (FL) on Thursday (Nov. 1) night. MU ends the “first season” with a 29-10 overall mark to go along with its 11th straight Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference title and will host the WHAC semi-finals and finals next weekend. 

The Crusaders, who traveled to Lake Wales this morning showed no jet-lag as junior all-American and current WHAC Player of the Week Lubovj Tihomirova recorded 18 kills to pace the visitors. The 6-3 Latvian hit at a .500 clip (18-for-30) and had just three errors for MU. Joining Tihomirova in double digits were Whitney Fuelling and Mary McGinnis who posted 14 and 13 kills respectively.

Region VIII Setter of the Week Inta Grinvalds handed out 47 assists, while WHAC Libero of the Week Jacqui Gatt collected 17 digs and three aces. Brynn Kerr joined Gatt in double digit digs with 10 of her own.

Madonna plays the winner of the #3/#6 WHAC quarter-final match next Friday night (Nov. 9) in the second semi-final of the WHAC tournament.
