LIVONIA, Mich.
– The Madonna University volleyball team swept Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference foe Davenport, 3-0 (30-17, 30-20, 30-13), Tuesday night here in the Activities Center on senior night.  With the victory the Crusaders move to 25-8 and 11-2 in league play.

Prior to the contest, MU honored seniors Jacqui Gatt (Livonia, Mich.-Churchill) and Amy Szymanski (Livonia, Mich. - Ladywood), making their final appearances in the regular season at home.  The match was never in doubt as MU trailed only once, early in game one, on its way to the sweep.

Lubovj Tihomirova (Riga, Latvia) finished with a team-high 13 kills while Whitney Fuelling (Milford, Mich. - Milford) and Mary McGinnis (Fraser, Mich. - Illinois State) tallied 12 and 11 kills respectively.

Inta Grinvalds (Portage, Mich. - Portage Central) posted a match-high 29 assists while Gatt finished with a team-high nine digs.

Davenport was led offensively by Amanda Schneider's eight kills and Kayla Vandermolen's 23 assists.  The Panthers struggled offensively, hitting just .064 compared to .308 for the host Crusaders.

The match also was the final event played on the original gym floor in the Activities Center, as crews will descend upon MU Wednesday morning to begin the replacement process of the 22-year-old wood floor.

The volleyball team playing the final game on the floor seemed unintentionally appropriate as it was the first and now last MU teams to play on the surface.

Madonna will take a few days off before returning to action Friday, Oct. 26, when it hosts the Crusader Classic.  Friday's matches will take place at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Field House, while Saturday's contests will take place at nearby Livonia Stevenson High School.
