LIVONIA, Mich.The No. 23 Madonna University volleyball team won their second straight Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match Thursday night (Sept. 13), downing the host Siena Heights University Saints in three games (30-20, 30-18, 30-22).

Junior
Lubovj Tihomirova (Riga, Latvia/Rigas Gymnasia) led the offensive attack with 14 kills, while sophomore Mary McGinnis (Fraser, Mich./Illinois State) had 13 kills on the night.  Sophomore Inta Grinvalds (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) had a solid match with 39 assists and three digs, she was aided on defense by senior Jacqui Gatt (Livonia, Mich./Churchill) and sophomore Brynn Kerr (Livonia, Mich./Schoolcraft CC) with 13 and 9 digs, respectively.

The Madonna defense carried the night, holding SHU to a .000 hitting percentage (22 K, 22 E, 107 TA) while three Saints had negative attack percentages for the match.

With the win, Madonna moves to 10-5, 2-0 in WHAC play while Siena Heights falls to 4-5, 1-1 in league action.

Madonna will host Concordia University in their next contest (Sept. 18)at the Student Activities Center.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
