Caryn Inman
(Oxford, Mich./Oxford HS) became the eighth Madonna volleyball
player to earn Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Player of the Year
after the league office announced the awards on Saturday following the
Crusaders third straight conference tournament championship.
During her 34-kill performance in the conference championship game,
Inman became only the sixth player in Madonna history to surpass 2,000
career kills.
Inman was joined on the all-conference teams by six other MU players,
including setter
Inta Grinvalds
(Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) who was named Freshman of the
Year. Grinvalds led the conference in assists in her first
collegiate season and earned conference setter of the week honors five
times during the year.

(Woodhaven, Mich./Woodhaven HS), junior libero
Jacqui Gatt
(Livonia, Mich./Churchill HS) and sophomore outside hitter
Lubovj Tihomirova
(Riga, Latvia/Rigas Gymnasia HS) were also selected as members of
the first team.
Sophomore outside hitter
Whitney Fuelling
(Milford, Mich./Milford HS) earned a spot on the second team in
her first season of college volleyball.
Junior defensive specialist
Amy Szymanski
(Redford, Mich./Ladywood HS) was one of six players named to the
conference Champions of Character team.
Szymanski, Gatt, Inman and Spooner were also honored as members of the
All-Academic team. Earlier in the week, Inman was also named ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-District third team by the College Sports
Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The seventh-ranked Crusaders are one of six teams participating at the
NAIA Region VIII volleyball tournament beginning Friday, Nov. 17 at
Indiana Wesleyan University.
