Caryn Inman helped MU widen their lead in conference play with a sweep of Cornerstone Tuesday night.

LIVONIA, Mich. -- The #10 ranked Madonna volleyball team took firm hold of the conference lead Tuesday night with a three game sweep of visiting Cornerstone, 32-30, 30-27, 32-30.

Sophomore outside hitter Lubovj Tihomirova (Riga, Latvia/Rigas Gymnasia HS) posted a career high 31 kills on .377 hitting.  Senior middle hitter Caryn Inman (Oxford, Mich./Oxford HS) recorded 23 kills with a .429 hitting percentage.

The Crusaders (26-2 overall, 7-0 WHAC) improved to 2-0 against the Golden Eagles (27-5, 6-2) this season.  Madonna head coach Jerry Abraham earned his 797th career win, tying the legendary Donna Hawkins (Georgetown College) for second all-time on the NAIA career coaching wins list.

Freshman setter
Inta Grinvalds (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) posted 61 assists, while sophomore Whitney Fuelling (Milford, Mich./Highland HS) led Madonna with 18 digs.

The victory widens the Madonna lead in conference play to two games in the loss column at the mid-way point of league action.

The Crusaders will continue their busy week when they return home Thursday night (October 12th) for a 7:00 pm tilt with Siena Heights University.
