The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference
announced on Monday afternoon that
three
members of the Madonna volleyball team have been earned weekly awards
for October 2, 2006.
Sophomore outside hitter
Lubovj Tihomirova
(Riga, Latvia/Rigas Gymnasia HS) was named WHAC
Player-of-the-Week after posting a .412 hitting percentage with 79
kills, including three matches with 20-plus kills during the week.
Freshman
Inta Grinvalds
(Portage, MI/Portage Central HS) earned WHAC Setter of the Week
honors after recording 132 assists (12.0 assists per game) and five
service aces.
Junior
Jacqui Gatt
(Livonia, MI/Churchill HS) was named WHAC Libero of the Week
after collecting 51 total digs and nine service aces.
The ninth-ranked Crusaders (23-2) posted a perfect 4-0 record last week,
including a win over Michigan-Dearborn on Tuesday, Sept. 26, that
propelled Madonna into the top spot of the WHAC standings.
Madonna returns to league play on Tuesday, Oct. 3, in a 7:00 p.m. (ET)
tilt at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
