Lubovj Tihomirova posted 29 total kills in Madonna's two wins at the Pepsi Bash at the Beach Tournament on Friday.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The No. 9 Madonna Crusaders collected two wins on opening day action at the Pepsi Bash at the Beach Tournament on the campus of Palm Beach Atlantic University on Friday.

The Crusaders defeated Northwood (FL), 3-1, in opening round action and swept Embry-Riddle (FL), 3-0, in the nightcap.

On the day, the Crusaders were led by
Lubovj Tihomirova's (Riga, Latvia/Rigas Gymnasia HS) 29 total kills, including a game high 16 against Embry-Riddle.

Senior co-captain
Heather Spooner (Woodhaven, MI/Woodhaven HS) turned in a solid day with nine kills in each match.

Freshman setter
Inta Grinvalds (Portage, MI/Portage Central HS) recorded 37 assists and six total blocks in the Crusaders 3-0 win over Embry-Riddle in the nightcap.

The Crusaders will move on to the semifinals of the Pepsi Bash at the Beach Tournament, taking on Southeastern (FL) at 11:15 a.m. (ET) on Saturday in the Greene Complex.
