LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference announced on Monday afternoon that Madonna University freshman Inta Grinvalds (Portage, MI/Portage Central HS) was named WHAC Setter of the Week for September 11, 2006, following her performance at the 7th Annual Julie Martin Memorial Tournament.

Grinvalds recorded 144 assists (12.0 per game) in the Crusaders four matches last week, including a career high 66 assists in Madonna's 3-1 win over Taylor University on Saturday afternoon.

Grinvalds currently leads the Crusaders with 440 assists on the season.

Today's award is the second weekly conference honor for the Madonna volleyball team after Caryn Inman (Oxford, MI/Oxford HS) was named WHAC Player of the Week on September 5th. 

The Crusaders (11-2) are ranked fifth in the nation and will play their first WHAC contest on Tuesday, September 12, at Cornerstone University.
