LIVONIA,
Mich. --
The 2006 Madonna University volleyball team made their season
debut Wednesday with a 2-2 tie versus a star-studded alumni roster at the
Activities Center.
With 17 players
suiting up one more time at MU, including 12 All-Americans, the alumni were able
to take games two and four of the four game series.
"There are good
and bad parts to having a great program," joked coach Jerry Abraham following
the match. "In all seriousness we needed a chance to see our team against
quality live competition and this is about as good as it gets."
The Crusaders,
who found out moments before the match that they are ranked No. 5 in the NAIA
preseason top-25 poll, will make their regular season debut next Thursday,
August 24th when they host Wayne State University at 7:00 pm.
