hosted a talent laden alumni
squad Sunday afternoon, falling to the former Crusaders 7-5. 2005
graduate Kathy Day delivered a bases-loaded walk-off double to end the game.

Brockert Joins
Professional
Softball Squad
If Erin Brockert
is any indication, Madonna University may be the stepping stone to a
professional softball career. The standout senior was added to the roster of
the Michigan Ice, a National Pro Fastpitch expansion team based in Midland,
Michigan. Brockert will play tonight against the Venezuelan National team at
Northville Park.

Softball Adds Three for 2007 Campaign
Madonna
University softball coach Al White announced today the signing of three
student-athletes to letters of intent.
Caitlyn
Sidor (Livonia, MI/Churchill HS), Bridget Hughes (Northville,
MI/Northville HS) and Alyssa Bertrand (Goodrich, MI/Goodrich)
became Crusaders today and will continue their academic and athletic careers
this fall at MU.

All-American
Madonna senior softball standout Erin
Brockert was named today to the 2006 ESPN Academic All-America softball team
in the college division. The Dayton, Ohio native is the lone WHAC
representative and one of seven NAIA players honored nationally.

to Regional All-Tourney Team
The 2006 Region VIII softball
tournament may not have ended exactly the way Madonna had hoped, but for
four Crusaders it ended with personal accolades. Erin Brockert, Alison
Grant, Crystal Little and Hannah Godfrey were all named to the
All-Tournament team.

in 9-1 Regional Championship Loss
The Madonna softball team saw
their 2006 season come to a close Thursday with a 9-1 run-rule shortened
loss to Cornerstone in the NAIA Region VIII championship game. The Crusaders
mustered just three hits on the day while Cornerstone posted 13 hits.

Brockert's Blast Keeps
Softball Season Going, 6-3
The Madonna softball team will
live to fight another day after senior Erin Brockert launched a three-run
home run in the sixth, propelling MU to a 6-3 win over top-seeded Aquinas.
The victory sends MU to the championship round tomorrow where they must beat
Cornerstone twice. Game time is tentatively set for noon.

Softball in Drivers
Seat at Regional Tournament
The Madonna softball team took two
huge steps toward Decatur, Alabama Tuesday, knocking off Bethel College 12-4
and top-seeded Aquinas 3-2 in day one play at the NAIA Region VIII
tournament in Marion, Indiana. MU used 14 hits in the first game of
the day, and a two run double by Christina Finch in game two for the wins.
The victories send MU to the winners bracket tomorrow where the face
Cornerstone at 10:00 am.

Player of the Year
The 2006 WHAC All-Conference
softball team was announced today with senior pitcher/DP Erin Brockert
taking WHAC Player of the Year honors. Brockert was one of four MU first
team selections.

Draws
Bethel in Regional Opener
The
Madonna softball team
found out their fate Thursday
night as Indiana Wesleyan defeated Bethel College in the MCC tournament
title game, giving the Crusaders a first round draw with Bethel in the
upcoming Regional Tournament. The WHAC #3 seeded Crusaders begin play at
Indiana Wesleyan versus the pilots at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 9th.

Season Finale at SVSU
The
Madonna softball team wrapped up the 2006 regular season with a pair of
losses at Saginaw Valley State, 6-1 and 6-5 Wednesday. Crystal Little,
Heather Richardson and Mary Kate Setta each posted a pair of hits in the
nightcap.

Regionals in
Grand Fashion
Behind
eight Erin Brockert strikeouts in game one and a pair of grand slams in game
two, the Crusader softball team swept visiting Indiana Tech on Senior Day at
MU Field by finals of 8-2 and 9-1. With the wins MU is now 32-11 and
finishes the WHAC season at 10-9 and advances to the NAIA Region VIII
tournament.

The Madonna softball team fell to 28-7, 8-5 in WHAC play after a pair of
losses at home Saturday to Cornerstone, 5-2 and 1-0. Hannah Godfrey was
3-for-4 in game one and Crystal Little posted a RBI. Shannon Noder was the
tough luck loser in game two posting seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Softball Splits Pair
at Cornerstone
After being held to just one hit in a 3-0
loss at Cornerstone in game one Saturday, MU rebounded for a 5-4 win in game
two. The Crusaders scored three in the seventh, the eventual game winner
coming on a RBI single by Alison Grant to preserve the win. MU moves to 28-5
overall and 8-3 in league play.

Concordia 2-1
in 13 Innings
It took 13 innings but Madonna
moved to 27-4 on the season and 7-2 in WHAC play with a 2-1 win over
Concordia in game one Thursday. Mary Kate Setta (right) drove in the game
winner. Game two was suspended after three innings due to darkness and will
be resumed if necessary at a later date.

Northwood
Madonna traveled to NCAA DII
Northwood University Tuesday and came away with a split against the #23
ranked Timberwolves dropping game one 7-3 but winning game two 4-1 in eight
innings. Heather Richardson went 3-for-4 in game one while Erin Brockert
took the loss. In the nightcap, Stephanie Day hit a home run and Alison Grant
drove in the would be game winner as Madonna came from behind for the extra
inning win.
Shannon Noder earned the victory, her fifth
of the season.

Brockert Named Leagues
Top Pitcher
for Third Straight Week
Erin Brockert is the WHAC softball Pitcher
of the Week for April 10, 2006. The senior from Dayton, Ohio went 2-0 in
three appearances for the Crusaders. Brockert struck out nine in a complete
game three-hit win at Siena Heights, then fanned four in a complete game
victory against Aquinas. She also appeared in three-and-two-thirds innings
of relief against the Saints, striking out three and allowing no earned
runs. For the week, Brockert fanned 16 while walking none
and allowing just
one earned run in 17-and-two-thirds innings of work.

In WHAC Showdown Sunday
Madonna and Aquinas came into
Sunday's action as the top teams in the WHAC and not much has changed as
both schools got a win Sunday at MU Field. The Crusaders took game one, 2-1

The Madonna softball team improved
to 24-2 after a 6-2, 5-4 sweep of Siena Heights Saturday afternoon. Erin
Brockert picked up the win in game one while Shannon Noder earned the game

Brockert, Grant Sweep Weekly Conference Honors
A pair of Crusaders, Erin Brockert
and Alison Grant (right) swept the weekly WHAC softball awards being named
conference pitcher and player of the week respectively today. Brockert
went 3-1 with a save, mixed in a perfect game and a 20 straight scoreless
innings for her second straight honor. Grant posted a .536 average and drove
in 14 runs to lead the offensive attack and take home her first career
player of the week award.

day as Madonna swept host Concordia 10-0 and 9-3 Saturday afternoon.

Softball Closes Spring Trip Undefeated
The Madonna softball team will return from Florida with a perfect 10-0
record after a pair of wins at the Gene Cusic Classic Thursday. Madonna
defeated Saint Anselm 5-0 in game one, then came back to score four times in
the top of the seventh in game two for a 4-2 triumph over Urbana. Erin
Brockert picked up another win on the mound and Christina Finch smacked a
home run, the 10th in as many games for the team this spring.

Brockert Headlines Preseason
All-WHAC Team
Madonna senior pitcher/designated
player Erin Brockert headlines a group of 18 league softball players named
to the preseason All-Conference team today. Brockert was tabbed the
co-Player-of-the-Year and Pitcher-of-the-Year by the six league coaches.
Joining Brockert on the preseason squad are teammates Stephanie Day,
Christina Finch and Crystal Little.

The Madonna softball team was
recognized by the National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as having
the 11th best grade point average among NAIA institutions a year ago. The
Crusaders finished the year with a 3.357 team GPA.

Softball Season Ends In
Regional
Loss to Cornerstone
The 2005 Madonna softball season
ended Wednesday with a 4-2 loss to Cornerstone University in the NAIA Region
VIII tournament in Grand Rapids. The Crusaders had the bases loaded in
the bottom of the seventh when Mary Warchuck grounded into the season ending
out. The Crusaders finish the season with a 29-11 overall record.
