Nov. 8, 2004

LIVONIA, MI. - Madonna University softball coach Al White announced the signing of Mary Setta (Chelsea, MI/Chelsea) to a letter of intent to play for the Crusaders in 2006.  The 5-11 outfielder/pitcher becomes the first player from the class of 2005 to sign with Madonna.

Setta will be entering her third year as a varsity softball team member at Chelsea this coming spring, having already been a part of the 2003 State Championship team.

Setta was named the teams Most Improved Player in 2004 after starting as a left fielder and pitcher on the team that returned to the state tournament with a Final Four appearance.

She has been selected a team captain heading into her final season with the Bulldogs.

Off the field, Setta is a three-year honor roll member and student council representative, being elected vice-president this year.  She is also a Hugh O'Brien Yough Leadership member
