FORT MYERS, Fla.

The Madonna softball team extended their win streak to six games to start
the 2006 campaign with a 5-1, 8-1 double header sweep Monday afternoon.
In game one, MU
pitcher Erin Brockert fanned eight Cedarville hitters in eight innings,
allowing just two hits and one run in a 5-1 come from behind victory.
With the game
knotted at 1-1 through seven, the Crusaders exploded in the first extra
inning, scoring four time, the big blow coming off the bat of Christina Finch,
a three-run homerun that proved to be the game winner.
Stephanie Day
also collected a pair of hits including a triple in the victory.
In game two,
Madonna used offensive production from Brockert who went 1-for-2 with four RBI
and a homerun and a 2-for-4 day from freshman Allison Grant in a 8-1 win
over Ashford.
Freshman hurler
Alyssa Wagner picked up the win, her first of the season and first as a
collegiate.
With the victories,
Madonna moves to 6-0 heading into a off-day Tuesday before going back to work
Wednesday with a pair of games versus Malone and Carlow beginning at 9:00 am
(ET).
