LIVONIA -- The Madonna softball team is on a roll, running their season record to 19-1 with a pair of wins over visiting Shawnee State University 4-0 and 8-2 Friday afternoon.

The Crusaders continue to improve on their best start in team history, now standing at 19-1.

In game one, senior Erin Brockert was again masterfully on the mound, throwing a complete game, surrendering just one hit while fanning four in the 4-0 shutout.

Brockert also get it done at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a pair of double and three of MU's four RBI's.

The Crusaders kicked off the scoring in the third inning, taking a 2-0 lead on Brockert's first double of the day, then added a run in the fourth ad sixth while holding the Bears to just one infield single.

Brockert improved to 12-1 with the victory.

In the nightcap, Liz Ballinger got the start on the mound, surrendering one run on a Katie Wade single to center in the third as MU trailed for the first time in two days, 1-0.

But the offense struck back in their half of the third inning, scoring four runs on a RBI double by Brockert, two-run single by Alison Grant and RBI single by Stephanie Day.

That was all the cushion reliever Shannon Noder would need, pitching the final four innings while scattering four hits and striking out four for her second victory of the season.

With the wins, Madonna improves to a team history best 19-1 while Shawnee State falls to 13-6.

The Crusaders are back in action Saturday when they begin the WHAC conference portion of their schedule, traveling to Concordia University for a 1:00 pm double-header.
