The Madonna softball team had to battle back through the loser's bracket after
falling to Bethel earlier in the day. Following a 4-3 eighth inning
victory over Marian, the Crusaders and Pilots again met in the championship
round of the NAIA Region VIII softball tournament. However, the
21st-ranked Pilots had an agenda to carry on with after defeating MU for a
second straight time on the day and winning the regional championship 7-2.
The Crusaders finish the season with a 34-16 overall mark and for the second
straight year they have been defeated in the championship round of the regional
tournament.
Bethel moves on to the NAIA national tournament in Decatur, Alabama, which
begins May 18.
Following the contest, Madonna's Hannah Godfrey and Caitlyn Sidor were
honored as recipients for the NAIA All-Region VIII team.
