Livonia, Mich. Madonna head softball coach Al White has announced the signing of two high school seniors for the 2008 season.

Michelle Henning
(Curtice, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch HS) and Karen House (Columbiaville, Mich./North Branch HS) have each signed letters of intent to further their educational and softball careers at Madonna University beginning in the fall of 2007.

Henning comes to Madonna from Cardinal Stritch High School in Oregon, Ohio where she has been a three-time all-conference selection and team MVP.  Henning owns a 31-20 overall record in the circle over the last three seasons with 353 strikeouts in 316 and one-third innings pitched.

“Michelle is a very strong player in the circle,” White said.  “We are thrilled to have a player that has the ability to be dominating against opposing hitters.”

Henning, who plans on studying pre-med at Madonna, posted a career best 1.26 earned run average and 171 strikeouts during her sophomore season and as a junior she recorded a .619 batting average and .762 slugging percentage on the offensive side of the diamond.

House will join the Crusaders program after prepping at North Branch High School.

She is currently in her fourth season as a varsity member of the softball team and earned all-conference honors following her junior campaign.

“Karen is a very skilled outfielder who has the ability to track the ball very well off the bat,” White said.  “She will be a great contributor to our club in the future and we are excited to have her join our program.”

House, who plans on studying Spanish and English at Madonna next fall, is also an accomplished cross country runner and was a two-time all-conference selection at the high school level.
