The Madonna softball team swept the weekly conference honors for the
second straight week after
the league office announced today that senior lefthander
Shannon Noder
(Lincoln Park, Mich./Lincoln Park HS) was named
Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week and
junior outfielder
Heather Richardson
(Plymouth, Mich./Canton HS) was named the conference's Player of the
Week after helping the Crusaders to a 2-2 mark.
Noder (6-5) was 1-1 on the week after pitching the Crusaders to a
4-1 win at Spring Arbor. Noder was saddled with the loss after
MU dropped a 1-0 decision at Bethel on Friday, March 23.
For
the week, Noder worked 13-innings,
scattering eight hits with just two earned runs allowed and
striking out six batters while posting a
1.00 ERA.
Richardson batted .500 in a 7-for-14 performance at the plate during
the Crusaders' four games last week.
The 5-6 outfielder also slugged at an .857 clip with two doubles and
one home run.
Madonna is currently 13-8 overall and ranked second in NAIA Region
VIII. The Crusaders will host Cornerstone Saturday, March 31
for the 2007 home and WHAC opener. The first game of the
doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Madonna
University Field.
