Richardson Earns First WHAC Weekly Honor

Danielle Richardson was named the first WHAC
Player of the Week for 2008

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Office announced today that Madonna junior catcher Danielle Richardson (Flint, Mich./Lapeer West) was selected the WHAC Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 9. This is the first award of the season handed out by the league office.

Richardson hit .600 (12-for-20) on the week for Madonna with three doubles, four runs scored and seven runs batted in, helping the Crusaders to a pair of wins along the way. Against ninth-ranked Dickinson State, the Flint, Mich., native went 4-for-4 with a run scored and two doubles. Richardson also threw out 60-percent of the attempted base stealers from behind the plate.

Richardson currently leads the Crusaders with a .487 average, five doubles and 13 RBIs. Madonna sits at 8-4 on the young season and will return to action this
Wednesday in the home opener against Spring Arbor.

First pitch at MU Field is slated for 3:00pm.
