Five Errors Leads to 9-0 Loss to Peru State

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Madonna softball team was defeated by Peru State (NE) 9-0 in six innings Monday morning at the Tucson Invitational.

Senior
Shannon Noder (Lincoln Park, Mich./Lincoln Park HS) was saddled with the loss after pitching all six innings and allowing 12 hits and six earned runs.

Peru State (1-0) jumped out to an early lead in the first inning after a lead off double by Jen Siedlik, who scored after an RBI single by Kathleen Brown.

The Bobcats plated four more runs in the third inning after posting five hits in the inning.

Peru State tacked on another run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by McKayla Clark.  Three more runs were plated by the Bobcats in the top of the sixth inning to force the shortened game.

Madonna (3-4) was shut out for just the first time this season.

Sophomore
Danielle Richardson (Lapeer, Mich./Lapeer West HS) led Madonna at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance, which extended her hitting streak to seven games.

Freshman
Brittney Scero (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) also extended her hitting streak to seven games after leading off the bottom of the first inning with a double to right center field.

The Crusaders will return to action on Wed., March 7 in Tucson.  Madonna will play Bethany Lutheran (MN) at 11:30 a.m. ET and then take on Saint Mary (KS) at 2:00 p.m.
