-- Sophomore forward
Cody Pickren
(Northville, Mich./Plymouth Christian Academy) scored three
goals in the second half, recording his first career hat trick, as
the Crusaders rolled to a 6-0 decision over Concordia on Monday
afternoon in Ann Arbor.
The Crusaders completely dominated all of the statistical categories
against the Cardinals. Madonna recorded 29 total shots,
including 20 on goal. Concordia could only muster three total
shots, forcing Madonna junior goalkeeper
Ryan Mathe
(Ypsilanti, Mich./Ypsilanti Lincoln HS) to make one save to
go along with his team high third shutout of the season.
Madonna senior
Pat Griffin
(Redford, Mich./Catholic Central HS) netted his ninth goal of
the season in the fifth minute of play, which held up to be the game
winner. Griffin also added two assists, moving him within two
points of the conference scoring title.
Senior forward
Derrick Mudri
(Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville HS) scored his third goal of
the year after an assist from
Doron Drai
(Kfar-Yona, Israel) in the 13th minute.
Drai added a goal of his own at the 30:52 mark of the first half,
giving Madonna a 3-0 advantage at the half.
Freshmen
Humberto Toscan
(Francisco Beltrao, Brazil/Berkley HS) and
Emilio Giorgi (Windsor,
Ontario/Kennedy Collegiate HS) and sophomore
Cory Maupin
(Linden, Mich./Linden HS) all were credited with assists on
Pickren's goals during the second half.
Concordia goalkeeper Ryan Borg recorded a game high 13 saves on the
afternoon.
Madonna will travel to Grand Rapids to take on Aquinas on Wednesday,
Oct. 25 at 3:40 p.m. The Crusaders can clinch a first round
bye and the second seed in the upcoming WHAC Tournament with a win
at Aquinas.
