Crusaders Cruise to 5-1 Win over Indiana Tech

Derrick Mudri put the Crusaders ahead after scoring in the ninth minute on Saturday.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Madonna men's soccer team moved one step closer to the top of the WHAC standings after defeating Indiana Tech, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon in Fort Wayne. 

The Crusaders used the strength of four second half goals to secure the conference victory.

Senior
Derrick Mudri (Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville HS) put Madonna ahead with his second goal of the season at the 8:07 mark of the first half.

Senior forward
Pat Griffin (Redford, Mich./Catholic Central HS) improved his season goal total to eight goals after scoring twice against the Warriors.

Sophomore
Doron Drai (Kfar-Yona, Israel) netted the game winner for Madonna in the 56th minute and freshman Emilio Giorgi (Windsor, Ontario/Kennedy Collegiate HS) capped off the Crusaders scoring with his second goal of the season in the 73rd minute.

Madonna is currently in second place in the WHAC standings, just two points behind frontrunner Cornerstone, but have three conference games remaining on the schedule.

The Crusaders will have little time to rest before their next game on Sunday, Oct. 15 against St. Francis at 1:00 p.m. (ET) in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
