GRAND RAPIDS,
Mich.
– The Madonna men’s
soccer team traveled to Grand Rapids for the second straight game and came away
with a 3-0 win over Cornerstone and in the process extended its season long
unbeaten streak to seven games. MU got goals from three different Crusaders in
the win.
MU
(8-2-2; 6-1-1 WHAC) got on the board in the 29th minute as the
reigning WHAC Player of the Week Doron Drai beat CU keeper Brett Grube with a
shot to give Madonna a 1-0 lead.
A little
over 10 minutes later, Mark Pikla took a pass from Makesi Lewis and rifled his
shot past Grube to make it 2-0 in favor of the visitors. Lewis put the game away
in the 61st minute, as he took a pass from Daniel Amaya and made it
3-0.
Sophomore
Steven Besk, making is first appearance in a Madonna uniform, made four saves in
picking up his first career win and shutout.
The
Crusaders close out their three game road trip as the back end of a women’s and
men’s soccer double header at Concordia. The women kick off at 12pm, while the
men are slated for a 2:30pm kick off.
