LIVONIA,
Mich..
– Despite T.J. Djkoic’s
third goal of the season, the Madonna men’s team could not overcome two second
half goals from Efrain Hernandez and fell to visiting Davenport 2-1 at Greenmead
Field. MU is now 2-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the conference.
Djokic got
Madonna on the board in the 10th minute as he took a long pass from
Emilio Giorgi and fired a shot from the right side of the penalty box to the
back post to put MU ahead 1-0.
Madonna held the
lead until the 63rd minute when Hernandez took a pass from David Wood
and corralled the ball in the box and poked it past a diving Kristofer Lyons to
square the match at one-all.
Hernandez gave DU
the lead for good in the 87th minute as he took a shot from the left
side of the 18-yard box and sent it towards the far post for a 2-1 Davenport
lead.
Lyons made seven
saves in a losing effort, while Djkoic extended his goal scoring streak to three
games.
Madonna is back
in action on Saturday against Cornerstone. Kick off at Greenmead Field is set
