BOX SCORE

Mike Rashad (right) garnered All-Tournament team honors after leading the MU scoring attack for the second straight game with 18 points.

LIVONIA, Mich. -- A four minute and 46 second drought from the field by the Crusaders allowed No. 15 St. Francis to pull away for an 85-65 win in the finale of the 2006 Michigan Educational Credit Union Classic on Saturday.

The Crusaders received a field goal by
Mike Rashad (Inkster, Mich./Wayne Memorial HS) with 6:24 left in the second half, which pulled Madonna within seven points of the Cougars (65-58).  However, nearly five minutes passed without the Crusaders scoring another field goal and Madonna could only contribute a pair of free throws to the cause before Jordan Hoke (Grand Rapids, Mich./Byron Center HS) knocked down a three-pointer with just 1:38 left in the game.

Over the final four minutes of play, St. Francis went on an 18-6 run to close out the game and give the Cougars a 20-point win.

Rashad led the Crusaders for the second straight game after scoring 18 points and collecting nine rebounds.  Senior forward
Derrick Mudri (Fowlerville, Mich./Fowlerville HS) added 15 points for Madonna and junior forward DJ Bridges (Canton, Mich./Canton HS) had nine points and seven boards in the loss.

St. Francis and St. Xavier both finished the tournament unscathed after each team picked up wins over Madonna and Concordia.  St. Xavier defeated the Cardinals 58-54 in the first game on Saturday.

Rashad joined five other players on the All-Tournament team; Concordia's Nate Ashcraft, St. Xavier's Dan Bolger and Julian Scott, and St. Francis' Trey Eaton and tournament MVP Mike Campbell.

Madonna will return to action for their final contest of 2006 on Tuesday, Dec. 19 against Spring Arbor in a 7 p.m. (ET) tip off at the Activities Center.
